Bruyère Health is pleased to welcome Internationally Educated Nurses and Nurses wanting to go back to the profession via the Supervised Practice Experience Partnership (SPEP) program. This program offers eligible nurse applicants the opportunity to complete a supervised practice experience in Ontario to demonstrate current nursing knowledge, skills, judgement, and language proficiency skills to become registered with CNO.

What would my role be?

Reporting to the Director of Nursing Professional Practice, you will follow the core competencies and practice standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as well as the policies and procedures of Bruyere Health.

  • You will work collaboratively as a member of the health care team with guidance from a nurse preceptor.
  • You will provide direct patient care based on the CNO standard for RN or RPN practice, as applicable.

You will be offered a supervised practice experience of at least 140 hours where you can apply nursing knowledge, skill and judgement and demonstrate an understanding of the nursing accountabilities to CNO standards as part of the approval to practice in Ontario.

How do I qualify?

Required:

  • Evidence of a nursing license in good standing from a country other than Canada
  • Evidence of international nursing education and experience
  • Evidence of eligibility to participate in the College of Nurses of Ontario Supervised Practice Experience Partnership (SPEP)
  • Evidence of a confirmed match with Bruyère Health through Ontario Health. Applicants must contact Ontario Health via email at accesscentre@ontariohealth.ca asking them to be matched with Bruyère Health for the SPEP program.
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) Level C certificate

Preferred:

  • Fluent in French and English

  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) - Must be fluent in English

  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to deliver education e.g., patient education, other students
