About the job

As part of the Program Delivery Tax Administration team, you will provide timely responses to taxpayer inquiries and provide interpretations, information and compliance services on Employer Health Tax and Retail Sales Tax-Insurance Premiums, including explaining taxpayer rights and responsibilities and legislated obligations.

Every day will be a little different, but you can expect it to include activities like:

Client Interaction: contact clients and their representatives to resolve non-compliance issues, communicate rights and obligations, provide statute education, and promote voluntary compliance.
Financial Analysis: review financial data from various sources to establish and verify taxpayer liabilities and refund entitlements.
Account Monitoring: monitor accounts to ensure financial transactions are accurate and process assessments and refunds.
Collaboration: work with external and internal individuals to resolve complex non-compliance issues.
Analytical: organize, prioritize, and complete workloads to gather information or ensure compliance, prepare correspondence, and maintain the integrity of tax roll information, in an efficient and effective way.

Communication and interpersonal skills

You have:
• proven communication skills and are customer service-oriented
• the ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation and communicate requirements to taxpayers
• the ability to establish trust and excellent working relationships with colleagues and clients
• high integrity and ethical standards consistent with OPS values, practices, and professional standards

Specialized knowledge and skills

You can:
• apply and follow legislative and technical policies, and procedures
• identify legislative non-compliance
• extrapolate legislative knowledge onto real world taxpayer scenarios
• use accounting methods and mathematical skills to perform account reconciliations, financial adjustments, and tax roll maintenance updates in a digital environment
• use Microsoft Office applications including excel, outlook, internet, and working with other electronic databases for data retrieval and input

Analytical, research and problem-solving skills

You have:
• demonstrated judgment, analytical, and research skills
• proven problem-solving abilities and are an innovative thinker
• persuasion and negotiation skills
• ability to plan, organize and prioritize work activities to deal with a diverse array of work situations
