POSITION:CASUAL – Occupational Health RN

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide patient care as per knowledge, skills and abilities within the professional scope, conduct and demeanor of practice of an RN and the Standards of Practice as approved by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). The RN will ensure that the CNO ethical guidelines for behaviour and Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics is adhered to.

Responsibilities

The Occupational Health RN reports to the Occupational Health Services Consultant

Provides ongoing Health Services programs for Hospital employees

Assists in the maintenance of Occupational Health programs such as screening and monitoring of health conditions (i.e. needle stick injuries, chemical exposure) to minimize the risks associated with potential workplace hazards

Co-ordinates new hire health assessment for employees, students and volunteers

Coordinates Respirator Protection Program and conducts N95 respirator fit testing

Completes WSIB reports as required e.g.: Form 7, earnings reports, continuity reports

Liaises with WSIB, LTD and other disability carrier providers as required

Coordinates and develops return to work programs for injured & ill employees

Conducts accident and illness investigations and completes associated reports

Minimum requirements/ Qualifications-must have:

Mandatory:

Successful completion of: Diploma of Nursing, BScN, BN

Current Certificate of Registration - College of Nurses (Ontario)

Certification in Occupational Health Nursing

Respirator Fit Testing Certificate

Minimum of two years’ experience in various areas of Occupational Health Services

Asset:

Canadian Nurses Association specialty certification in Occupational Health

Five years’ active clinical experience in an acute care setting

Certified Safety Officer

Disability Case Management experience

WSIB experience required

Teaching experience

SHIFT:

Days/Weekends -Subject to schedule changing as per Management Rights, Article 2.
