Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: $36.38 - 45.48 per hour: To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy
Shifts: Monday-Friday
Status: Temporary Full-Time, with an opportunity of renewal into a permanent full-time position

Position Summary
The Research Coordinator I is responsible for the coordination of both investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored research studies, including Health Canada-regulated clinical trials. This on-site, in-person position requires flexibility to meet study needs. A key aspect of this role involves in-person recruitment, consenting, enrollment, and follow-up of study participants. This role is ideal for individuals who are quality-focused, adept at problem-solving, self-motivated and enjoy managing complex projects.

Duties

  • Ethics & Legal Submissions: Oversee submissions to the Research Ethics Board and coordinate contract reviews for legal compliance. Experience with ethics submissions to Clinical Trials Ontario (CTOs) is an asset.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Manage administrative, regulatory, and study documentation following applicable guidelines.
  • Study Administration & Management: Adhere to research protocols and assist in various facets of research study or clinical trial execution.
  • Data Collection & Documentation: Plan, coordinate, and manage data collection and study documentation per hospital policy and ICH/GCP guidelines.
  • Administrative Tasks: Schedule participant visits, conduct recruitment interviews, obtain informed consent, collect and enter data, and coordinate patient scheduling as per study protocol.
  • Training & Certification: Maintain required study-related training and certifications, including GCP and TCPS2.
  • Financial Management: Handle study-related financial tasks, including orders, invoice payments, reimbursement claims, and cost transfers.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Principal Investigator and study team members.
  • Problem Identification & Reporting: Apply assessment skills to identify issues and report concerns promptly.
  • Communication: Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills with patients and colleagues, alongside independent multitasking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Literature Review & Sponsor Liaison: Review study-related literature, communicate with sponsors, and assist in study audits or monitoring activities.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a health services-related field. Certification as a Clinical Research Professional (e.g. SOCRA, ACRP) is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a clinical research setting with experience in participant recruitment and study assessments. Previous experience with Health Canada applications is preferred.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate professionally and build strong relationships with staff, participants, and caregivers.
  • Research Skills: Skills in chart review, phlebotomy, and neurological assessments are preferred.
  • Time Management: Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and adapt to changing schedules and deadlines.
  • Communication: Exceptional oral and written communication abilities and keen attention to detail.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in MS Office applications, with familiarity in study data entry and management platforms.
  • Work Ethic: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
