Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

This research position is within the Department of Supportive Care - Division of Psychosocial Oncology (PSO) at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, a large academic cancer hospital that is part of the University Health Network (UHN). The ideal candidate will have interest and experience in health psychology and vaccine decision making.

Under the supervision of Dr. Shapiro, the Research Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating a mixed-method research study identifying the modifiable drivers of HPV vaccination to inform the prevention of HPV-associated cancers in Canada. Main responsibilities include assisting the research team with: managing the day-to-day operations of research initiatives; developing project plans; monitoring and tracking project progress; participating in the planning of study protocols and design; quantitative data entry and analysis; qualitative data management and analysis; literature searches; writing initial drafts of manuscripts and preparing presentations; study-related administrative tasks (e.g. writing standard operating procedures, regular updates of study progress and attendance at research team meetings); and completion of other administrative and study-related tasks as assigned or requested.

This position offers an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented, highly self-motivated, committed, and hard-working individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills who enjoys the challenge of working within a multidisciplinary research team. The ideal candidate would be comfortable working in a virtual capacity and in-person.

The ideal candidate has strong organizational skill, attention to detail, takes initiative, and works well in a team, as well as possesses strong interpersonal, communication, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a health or science-related discipline is required, with a preference for candidates holding a graduate degree.
  • A minimum of six (6) months research project management and research experience (i.e. data collection and management; statistical analysis; qualitative analysis).
  • Proficiency in research methodologies, data analysis, and statistical software (SPSS preferred), as well as proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with qualitative research methods and conducting cognitive interviews.
  • Prior experience with qualitative data analysis software is preferred (e.g., NVivo).
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks and work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail to meet project timelines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High motivation, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant research guidelines and processes would be considered an asset.
