Work Model: On-Site
Hours: 35 Hours Per Week
Salary: $48,703 - $60,879 Per Annum (To Commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy)
Shifts: Monday to Friday
Status: Temporary Full-Time (1 Year, renewable)

Position Summary:

The McCain GU Biobank is an investigator initiated biobanking program that collects and archives biological specimens and data obtained from consented urologic oncology patients and stores them for future research purposes. The MGB, founded in 2008, aims to enhance future cancer research capabilities in the areas of genomics, proteomics and epidemiology. The MGB has mapped relevant clinical states for urologic cancer cohorts and controls, and established a systematic and clinically integrated approach to biospecimen procurement.

We are seeking an energetic, passionate, and patient-oriented Clinical Research Study Assistant (CRSA) who enjoys working in a fast paced clinical research environment. This role requires research and/or patient facing clinical experience.

Duties:

The CRSA is part of a team of individuals performing similar work. Working under the direction of the Clinical Research Manager and/or senior staff, the CRSA collaborates with MD and multidisciplinary health care teams to:

  • Recruit participants (e.g. identify potential participants, obtain informed consent, collect demographic and clinical data)
  • Execute some or all aspects of sample collection (e.g. perform venipuncture, process as per laboratory manual, transport to local laboratories as per SOPs)
  • Manage participant and specimen databases and perform data entry from health records or other sources, as per approved study protocol and authorized access
  • Maintain all regulatory files and execute study-related administrative tasks such as filing of study documents, bookings and requests, administrative binders, etc.
  • Applies straightforward technical knowledge and skills to perform well-defined, routine and/or repetitive tasks
  • Following established procedures & guidelines and comply with applicable regulations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or a college diploma in health or science related discipline.
  • Phlebotomy skills preferred; candidates willing to obtain certification encouraged to apply.
  • Knowledge of Research regulations and guidelines (such as ICH/GCP, Tri-Council Policy, Declaration of Helsinki, FDR, CFR and Health Canada TPD as required)
  • Strong communication, organizational, time management and problem solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 Office software
