The Director, International Banking Retail Risk Collections is responsible for leading the Collections Risk function, enabling collections and recovery in Latin American and Caribbean markets through risk-based decision making and effective collections oversight. The incumbent will continually monitor internal and external indicators to align to the Bank strategy, improve debt recovery, and gain operational efficiencies. To be successful, the Director is knowledgeable with retail lending, retail collections, and collections strategies, as well as asset sales, and distressed debt market in the Americas. Leveraging from this background, the Director IB Retail Risk Collections provides expert advice and counsel on collections risk strategy, collaborates with business and operations partners, and leads initiatives to minimize risk, while capitalizing on efficiencies.

Provide strong strategic leadership to motivate individuals and team performance by:

  • Exhibiting strong leadership competencies and building a performance driven culture
  • Developing strategic relationships inside and outside the organization to manage change, maintain industry expertise, and anchor business line partnerships
  • Contributing to the Bank strategy by delivering value-added services, expert advice, innovative solutions and efficient processing

Lead the strategic management of collections risk by:

  • Ensuring retail collections credit risks and risk proposals are clear and quantified with effective management reporting across all components of collections (People, Data, Process, Technology, Strategy, and Vendor Management) across the Bank
  • Maximizing account rehabilitation through effective & rigorous account/customer management
  • Mitigating risks/loss to the Bank by ensuring adherence to credit risk management policies and operational guidelines
  • Driving continuous improvement of collections risk methodologies, leveraging technology, best-practices, and global collections frameworks
  • Remaining aware of industry trends and opportunities for continuous monitoring and innovation
  • Ensuring units operate within budget(s) and against established compliance/governance guidelines
  • Managing reorganizations/projects to create a collections organization that is aligned with the Bank's business strategy and priorities
  • Acting as key stakeholder in asset sales or M&A processes by providing expert advice and delivering accurate risk reporting and documents to support the transaction(s)
  • Leading initiatives to strengthen the Collections and Recoveries risk management and operational effectiveness and efficiency by challenging the status quo

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Spanish fluency is required
  • Undergraduate degree or higher. Degree in statistics, business, economics or finance preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of retail risk, collections, and/or collections operations in Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Chile, Uruguay, Central America, and the Caribbean
  • Proven Bank / Retail Lending experience
  • Expert knowledge of Retail Credit products
  • Expert knowledge of debt recovery, policies, practices across key markets
  • Thorough knowledge of external marketplace(s) and collections industry market practices
  • Thorough knowledge of Bank's systems
  • Thorough knowledge of project management disciplines
  • Good understanding of the Bank's business plans and objectives
