Salary: $36.90 - $46.13 hourly (commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy)
Shifts: Day shift
Status: Temporary Full Time (September 30, 2025)

Overview of Position:
We are looking for an individual with a passion for excellence in Instructional Design (including needs assessments, analysis, facilitation & elearning) while employing project management & collaboration skills who is excited by the challenge of a dynamic environment. Strong understanding of Microsoft Copilot Chat, Copilot and Copilot Agents will be required to help with the curation and design of on the job education resources for TeamUHN. As an Education Specialist, you will be working with clinicians, administrative, managerial, research and technical staff whose computer skills range from basic to advanced. This role will support the responsible AI project focused on designing innovative educational programs that empower healthcare professionals to use AI-enabled tools responsibly.

Responsibilities:
As an integral member of Digital Education, the principal focus for the Education Specialist are:

Instructional Design

  • Employ project management knowledge and expertise
  • Advanced understanding of principles of adult education and demonstrate effective application of these principles in instructional design, development, and delivery
  • Conduct comprehensive needs or gap analysis to determine user training requirements; and develop learning objectives
  • Utilize adult education principles to design and/or curate Generative AI (Microsoft Copilot Chat and Copilot) education
  • Establish excellent working relationship with people from different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience & skills
  • Actively participate and contribute to problem-solving team discussions by providing creative recommendations in how to deploy and/or curate Generative AI (Copilot, Copilot Chat, Copilot Agent) education
  • If required, utilize adult education principles skills to design and review content e-learning storyboards, Q/A prototypes and maintain content

Facilitation and Training Delivery

  • In person or virtual advanced facilitation presentation skills; as required
  • Able to articulate and teach use of Copilot for maximum training transfer across groups of differing experience, expertise and technical skills
  • Use excellent written, verbal, and graphical communications skills with ability to express complex concepts effectively, and while following up on participants unanswered questions
  • Provide onsite and/or virtual support, as required

Operational Effectiveness in Education Services Delivery

  • Demonstrate effective project management, administrative and organizational skills and manages time appropriately for all assigned work
  • Education materials are effectively and accurately written and convey concepts clearly, incorporating effective use of graphics and white space and demonstrating strong writing skills
  • Independently follows through on initiatives; minimal supervision required to complete work
  • Able to problem-solve and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Able to anticipate, problem-solve, and respond appropriately to training & content inquiries in a timely manner
  • Solution oriented, considers impact and mid- to long-term effects of decisions/ solutions

Monitoring and Evaluation of Training Program Effectiveness

  • Seek feedback on an ongoing basis from working groups, Subject Matter Experts and users
  • Identify and make appropriate changes to education resources as required based on participant, SME, peer feedback, evaluation results and observations

Perform cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested.

Work in compliance of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, reporting hazards, deficiencies and contraventions of the Act, in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Education

  • At minimum, completion of a bachelor's degree in Adult Education, Health Informatics, Computer Science or related field, or recognized equivalent; required
  • Bachelor's degree in multimedia design, graphic design, or instructional design, or a related field in training development an asset

Skills and Experience

  • 1 or more years' experience working with Copilot, required
  • 2 or more years of adult technical training experience, required
  • 2 or more years of additional experience as a technical trainer/educator, required
  • Demonstrated experience with instructional design and project management, required
  • Comprehensive knowledge of applications such as MS Office 2016 suite required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent follow-up, time management and organization skills
  • Strong editing, written and oral communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proactive technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Solid project management skills
