Position Summary
As an integral member of the Joint Department of Medical Imaging team you will perform various Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) procedures at University Health Network. The department features state-of-the-art technology and a team of innovative staff dedicated to patient care and superb image quality, backed by a commitment to continuing education and quality assurance program initiatives. The Technologist will report to the MRI Supervisor, and adhere to respective institutional policies and procedures.

Duties

  • Performs Magnetic Resonance imaging procedures as outlined in the protocol/procedure manuals.
  • Ensures MRI Safety Standards of practice are followed at all times.
  • Operates, troubleshoots and ensures safe functioning of medical imaging and ancillary equipment.
  • Prepares written and electronic reports required to document all procedures and test results.
  • Performs other related patient care responsibilities to facilitate the provision of optimal patient care.
  • Attends meetings as necessary and is responsible for teaching, training, educational, research, safety, and quality improvement programs/activities.
  • Observes and understands Hospital and departmental policies and procedures and contributes to imaging policies and procedures that will result in improvements in technical quality.
  • Adheres to Hospital and departmental mission and value statements while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Performs cross-functional/site responsibilities as assigned, including call, evening, weekend, or night shifts. There is a potential for overtime shift opportunities.

Qualifications

Previous Education and Experience

  • Completion of clinical component of relevant accredited medical imaging academic program, or equivalent education as assessed by CAMRT and CMRITO.
  • Required minimum 4 years experience in MRI

Certifications / Registrations

  • Certification by the CAMRT in MRI
  • Current registration with the CMRITO in MRI and fulfilling the annual required continuing education as per CMRITO
  • Completion of a BCLS program, Level II: Basic Rescuer certification, with maintenance of certification
  • Cross-sectional Anatomy course, required
  • Contrast injection course, preferred

  • Ability to be trained in the following MRI specializations: cardiac, body, neuro, MSK, breast

Availability

  • Ability to work variable shifts and take on-call assignments.
