Job Description

Reports to: Manager, Research Financial Services
Grade: N0:04
Hours: 37.5 Hours Per Week
Salary: $56,882-$71,097 (To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy)
Status: Temporary, Full-time (June 30, 2025)
Closing Date: January 31, 2025

Position Summary

As an integral member of the Grants Management team within the Research Financial Services department, the Financial Analyst I performs a range of detailed accounting activities and advisory functions requiring sound professional judgment to ensure day-to-day operations are carried out in accordance with the established accounting principles and institutional policies for PMCF-funded research accounts.

Duties

  • Work closely and independently with individual Fund Holders/researchers, their support staff and the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation group to facilitate the administration of PMCF-funded research accounts
  • Process invoices for PMCF Fund Accounts within the growing portfolio
  • Prepare monthly journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis to assist with forecasting
  • Perform cross-functional duties and other duties consistent with the job classification, as required

Qualifications

  • At a minimum, Community college diploma (three years) in Accounting/Finance or equivalent program
  • Two (2) years of related experience in an accounting environment with exposure to a range of basic accounting practices, procedures and principles
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellent client service and satisfaction
  • Skill in performing detailed numerical computations and accurate data entry
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills with strong organization and time management skills
  • Strong knowledge of computer application accounting systems & software applications, preferably in a Microsoft Office environment (i.e., Excel, Word, Access)
  • Experience with Grant accounting preferred
  • Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
