What you'll do

Reporting to the Manager, Accounting Operations - Inventory, this position provides unique insight into the enterprise inventory accounting process for CTC. The Financial Analyst, Inventory Accounting is an essential part of the Accounting team and will gain experience establishing relationships with key clients across Finance and Business groups to ensure business initiatives are accounted for appropriately. Your technical expertise and analytical skills are critical for success, as is your ability to communicate and collaborate while undertaking multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Prepare significant analyses, entries, and reconciliations as part of the monthly financial reporting process for enterprise inventory, shrink, freight costs, vendor funds, transportation, and obsolescence provisions

  • Ensure the financial results are in compliance with IFRS and provide accurate and timely reports and analysis to management on a monthly basis

  • Launch investigations, analyze significant variances, key metrics and business trends and present findings to Senior Financial Analyst and Manager

  • Analyze and implement the impact of business contracts and/or regulatory and accounting changes to processes and controls

  • Understand and execute accounting and reporting models and processes

  • Effectively communicate and build relationships with business partners, accounting, and internal and external auditors

  • Run multiple tasks simultaneously and independently

  • Execute and maintain documentation of controls

  • Continuously drive improvements and changes to current processes to find efficiencies

What you bring

  • University degree in Accounting or Finance areas

  • CPA designation (or working towards) required (or equivalent)

  • Minimum 2-3 years experience in a medium/large company at a Financial Analyst/ Accountant level with strong IFRS knowledge

  • Detail oriented with strong diagnostic and analytical skills

  • Strong problem solving, analytical and strategic thinking skills; able to see the "big picture" in a complex business environment and natural curiosity to understand the reason behind transactions

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships

  • Ability to thrive in an environment responsive to changing business requirements

  • Highly driven with an exceptionally strong work ethic, time management and organization skills

  • Advanced PC skills including Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Familiarity with internal and external audit processes is considered an asset

  • Working knowledge of Oracle PeopleSoft accounting system and Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) is an asset
