Salary: $36.88 - $46.10 per hour

As an integral member of the Infection Prevention and Control Unit, the INFECTION CONTROL PRACTITIONER I works in the capacity of support to meet the needs of an evolving infection and prevention practice. The principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to: performing surveillance activities within UHN to facilitate preventing and controlling outbreaks of infection; acting as a resource for internal clients, providing support services during shifts and on an on-call basis including occasional evening and weekend on-call; providing education and training to internal care providers and other staff members; performing continuous Quality Improvement responsibilities; participating in professional development and education activities/programs to ensure excellence in the provision of Infection Prevention and Control services at UHN; performing cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.

• At minimum, completion of a Bachelors degree program,
• Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing, Health or Allied Health Sciences, and/or Microbiology or recognized equivalent required.
• Up to 1 year of relevant experience.
• Experience in designing and conducting research with capabilities to perform statistical analysis preferred.
• Teaching experience preferred.
• Experience working in a Hospital or long-term care facility preferred.
