Reporting to IT Manager, the Information Technology (IT) Help Desk - Co-op assists the Helpdesk team with the delivery of professional, technical and analytical IT Security services and solutions to the organization.

Key Accountabilities

  • Update the inventory of IT assets and document configurations.
  • Assist with the resolution of technical support tickets, computer imaging, office moves, etc.
  • Assist with managing and supporting Microsoft 365 applications and services (e.g., Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive).
  • Assist with deskside support, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting computer systems.
  • Assist with managing and maintaining the Active Directory environment.
  • Manage security groups and distribution groups for access control.
  • Install and update software, drivers, and operating systems.
  • Assist with creating and updating IT manuals, FAQs, and user guides.
  • Keeps up-to-date with emerging technologies and IT best practices.
  • Assists with information security, including scanning for virus, malware, phishing attacks, etc.
  • Create and update appropriate system documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail, comprehensive problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Participate in other information technology related project and tasks as needed.

Education and Experience

Education:

  • Currently pursuing a degree, diploma or certificate in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field where a co-op work term is part of the program.

Technical Skills:

  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking principles.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and macOS operating systems.
  • Basic knowledge of common software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace).
  • Familiarity with remote desktop tools and ticketing systems is a plus.
  • Understanding of networking concepts (Wi-Fi, LAN, VPN) is a plus.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in the field of IT support.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in a college or university program related to IT.
  • Availability to work daytime hours during the internship period.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Familiarity with troubleshooting basic technical issues.
  • A proactive attitude, with the ability to take initiative and follow through on tasks.
