What you'll do
As a member of the Store Learning & Leadership team, the Learning Consultant is responsible for the instructional design and development of training materials for Canadian Tire Retail employees.
Content areas include, but are not limited to, technical training (for example, reference guides, job aids, walkthrough videos), selling skills and product knowledge, and soft skills training (for example, customer service and diversity and inclusion topics). The Learning Consultant works closely with Lead Learning Solutions Consultants, Senior Retail Integration Consultants and Multimedia Designers.
Source relevant content from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and any other appropriate sources to address identified gaps
Design and develop blended learning solutions including eLearning, training video scripts, magazine articles, print materials, and performance support tools based on accepted instructional design principles
Create instructionally-sound training materials that support the objectives identified by the Lead Learning Solutions Consultants in the Learning Strategy
Develop content that encourages active learning, retention and improved performance on the job for various topics including soft skills, customer service, selling, technology, and processes
Collaborate with Multimedia Designers to ensure learning materials are developed with a focus on optimal learner experience and usability
Cultivate positive, collaborative working relationships at all levels across the organization
What you bring
Post-secondary degree in Adult Education and Instructional Design, or an equivalent combination of training and education
1-3 years' experience in an instructional design role or equivalent
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, as well as interpersonal skills
Knowledge of principles of adult learning theory, training and development techniques
Experience designing training programs for various delivery methods including eLearning, self-directed learning, blended learning on-the-job training, and performance support
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver results in a fast-paced and changing environment
Proficient in Windows platforms (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Working knowledge of eLearning software (Articulate Storyline, Captivate, Lectora, etc.)
Canadian Tire or retail experience is considered an asset
