Job Description

Site: Toronto Rehab Bickle Centre
Department: BC Allied Health (AAC Clinic)
Reports to: Manager, Allied Health
Hours: 37.50 hours per week
Wage range: $42.21 per hour - $52.76 per hour (To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy )
Status: Temporary Full Time (Approximately 6 months)
Closing Date: Nov 25, 2024

Duties

  • Provide quality occupational therapy services to patients at Toronto Bickle Centre Hospital within the framework of patient centered care
  • Communicate effectively with members of the inter-professional team
  • Provide functional assessment, training, and intervention for both face-to-face and writing aid clients (inpatients of Bickle centre and outpatients).
  • Familiarity and comfort working with technology - including speech generating devices and adapted computer access software/hardware in Windows, Apple and Android platforms.
  • Familiarity with ADP Communication Aids Branch rules regarding eligibility and funding paperwork
  • Collaboration with interprofessional team in providing patient focused care
  • Participation in professional, program and hospital committees
  • Supervise Occupational Therapy students for clinical education if applicable
  • Demonstrates understanding of, compliance with, and commitment to, patient safety responsibilities and corresponding hospital plans, policies and procedures in order to ensure a safe environment for patients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy
  • Member in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO), General Practicing Members or Provisional Practicing Members will be considered.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (B Level or C Level) Heart Saver Plus Canada (on employment)
  • Membership with Professional Association preferred
  • Experience with working with adults with acquired neurogenic conditions preferred
  • Assistive Devices Program (ADP) Authorizor (OT) for Communication Aids category preferred
  • Good attendance is required
