Wage Range: $39.07 - 56.00 per hour (start rate is non-negotiable and in accordance with collective agreement)
Shifts: M-F; Days
Status: Casual

Position Summary

As a member multi-disciplinary Team, the Registered Nurse practices in accordance with relevant legislation/standards, the UHN Professional Practice Model and the mission and vision of nursing at the UHN to provide compassionate, collaborative and competent care, while meeting the legal and ethical requirements of the profession.

Duties

  • Applying knowledge of nursing science, theory, skill and critical decision making in the provision of compassionate, collaborative and competent care in accordance with the UHN Professional Practice Model for Nursing and the mission and vision of nursing at UHN
  • Ensuring practice is consistent with professional standards and the ethical framework as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario and the UHN policy and procedure
  • Demonstrating commitment to professional life-long learning by participating in continuing education activities to meet the needs of the patient population served and the standards of the profession
  • Performing reflective practice, analyzing and evaluating nursing knowledge and modifying practice accordingly to improve the quality of nursing and patient care
  • Performing cross-functional and other responsibilities, as assigned and/or requested

Qualifications

  • Current Registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario required
  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing preferred
  • Certificate in Oncology Nursing and/or CNA Oncology Certification preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years nursing experience in an Ambulatory setting preferred.
  • Oncology nursing experience required
  • Current B.C.L.S. certification required.
  • Chemotherapy / Biotherapy certification preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize the nursing process in planning, implementing and evaluating care
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Evidence of co-operative and facilitative relationships while working with a multidisciplinary team, and the ability to work independently
  • Evidence of good psycho-social and patient / family teaching skills
  • Demonstrated leadership / in-charge skills, and evidence of strong organizational and decision making skills
  • Evidence of commitment to self-directed learning
  • The successful candidate will engage with delivery and refinement of novel models of care such as biometric-enabled Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM). This role will help determine how RPM will be optimized for the Melanoma clinic and delivered across Princess Margaret, working closely with the Cancer Digital Intelligence innovation team
