Job Description

Department: Radiation Oncology
Reports to: Clinician Investigator, Department of Radiation Oncology
Work Model: On-Site
Grade: N0:03
Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: $25.98 - $32.48 per hour (To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy)
Shifts: Monday - Friday
Status: Temporary Full time (June 2026)
Closing Date: November 15, 2024

Position Summary: The RA will interact directly with oncologists, medical physicists, radiation therapists and other Princess Margaret staff to develop and implement research studies. In addition, the RA will work with collaborating laboratories. The role requires an individual who is detail-oriented and able to take initiative to drive the research projects forward.

Duties:

  • Acquisition of relevant data from published sources and available databases
  • Assist in the planning, implementation & coordination of all aspects of study execution
  • Interaction with statistical and clinical collaborators, and regulatory committees (e.g. ethics boards, grants/contracts departments, and finance/budgeting for studies)
  • Assist in grants editing and manuscripts
  • Data acquisition from databases and management
  • Identify eligible patients for clinical studies, including during tumor boards

Qualifications

  • At minimum, completion of a bachelors degree in business, commerce, or science or recognized equivalent required
  • At minimum 1 year practical and related experience required
  • Demonstrated experience in research required
  • Demonstrated experience using data management software applications required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Environment (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint) required
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Ability to work in a goal-directed fashion: anticipate next steps and take initiative to move projects towards completion.
  • General knowledge of research principles, concepts and techniques relating to data collection and data management
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills primarily for the purposes of exchanging and/or clarifying information and resolving problems within scope of authority
  • Ability to attend to detail and produce accurate, high-quality work
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a multi-project setting
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent organizational, time management, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work individually as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to identify own instructional needs and seek appropriate advice/resources.
