About the job
In this role, you will: •Lead policy research, analysis, and synthesis, developing options for decision makers and communicating complex information clearly. •Analyze cross-cutting issues and advise on policies, programs, and investments aligned with government priorities. •Respond to questions, information requests, and correspondence in a fast-paced, high-profile policy area. •Build partnerships with key stakeholders, including Ontario Health's Mental Health and Addictions Centre of Excellence and regional planners. •Lead policy and program projects, facilitating and participating in various working groups and committees. •Contribute to the development and evaluation of strategic health policies, program design, regulations, and legislation within Ontario's health system.
What you bring to the team
Policy and Program Knowledge and Skills
You have •knowledge of policy legislative processes, and strategic policy development processes •demonstrated policy, research and analysis experience •knowledge of program design and evaluation techniques to frame and lead the development, revision, evaluation and communication of policies, standards, regulations and/or legislation •knowledge of models and mechanisms to enhance system integration/coordination, resource allocation and costing methodologies
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
You have: •demonstrated writing skills and the ability to convey complex ideas in simple and easy-to-understand written products • demonstrated written presentation skills to communicate large amounts of complex information in digestible format using words, visuals and numbers to convey meaning •leadership and teamwork skills to undertake policy and program work and to support the policy objectives of the Ministry in working with partners •partnership building skills to work cooperatively with all partners to meet mutual goals, identify partners' interests and opportunities for collaboration •demonstrated political acuity to appreciate, understand and utilize the power of relationships, both formal and informal •demonstrated oral presentation and communication skills to conduct consultations and convey ideas to stakeholders and senior management
Project Management and Analytical Skills
You can: •provide project planning and leadership on concurrent policy development projects, work collaboratively with team members and manage deadlines and competing priorities. •process and distil information from a range of sources, including research and scientific data, trends and analyses, and independent research, to identify and highlight relevant points. •conduct environmental scans and analyze a range of factors such as funding, governance, and stakeholder interests to provide options and recommendations to decision makers •assess the competing interests of stakeholders, interpret broad guidelines and develop provincial policies or solutions that can be applied at the regional and local levels, as required •assess both qualitative and quantitative information in developing proposals to evaluate the implications, costs, and impact of proposed policy changes
Health System Knowledge
• You have knowledge of health care system trends, and understanding of critical issues and concerns faced by health stakeholders • You can ensure policies, programs, regulations and legislation respond to issues within the health system
