Unit Service Worker Environmental Services - Floors B2 - 1 (Job ID: 9497)
As part of the Environmental Services Department, the successful candidate will provide a clean, safe and supportive environment for patients, visitors and staff in the Hospital and satellite areas, including but not limited to in-patient and out-patient areas, Operating Room Theatres, Clinical and Research Laboratories, non-patient and common areas by:
- Providing daily and periodic cleaning services to routine and isolation rooms and corridors within their assigned Units/Areas including waste and sharps collection, cleaning of washrooms and shower rooms, cleaning room furnishings, fixtures and telephones, dusting shelves, sills, ledges, lights and vents, mopping, and bed, stretcher, and clinical-equipment, cleaning activities.
- Distributing and collecting ice water jugs.
- Distributing and collecting menus.
- Replenishing supplies and clean-linens, and collecting soiled linens as needed.
- Removing and hanging-up of curtains utilizing a step-stool or ladder.
- Helping to maintain a safe, therapeutic environment by observing fire & safety and infection control procedures, and by alerting the Clinical Leader/Manager and/or R.N. in charge to unauthorized persons in the unit.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working as a cleaner in a healthcare or hospitality setting.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, pulling/pushing, continuous walking/standing.
- Knowledge of cleaning products and its uses
- Basic knowledge of WHIMS.
- Ability to read, write, comprehend and speak English.
- Ability to function as a departmental and unit team member.
- Ability to work independently within the scope of the role and prioritize workload.
- A demonstrated commitment to the role in support of a clean, safe and supportive patient care environment.
- Ability and willingness to work all shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends, based on departmental needs.
- Excellent attendance record and in good standing.
