If so, then consider these opportunities with Ontario Parks as a Parks Program Educator. As part of our Discovery Program you will play an important role in welcoming visitors, and delivering workshops to improve camping and outdoor skills.

About the job

In this position, you will:

• provide technical and operational assistance and deliver park education programs
• assist with preparing and presenting interpretive programs
• promote compliance of rules and regulations to ensure safe and positive customer experiences in parks.
• lend a hand with the preparation of promotional marketing material, including social media content to effectively communicate program and park information.
• help in interpreting natural and cultural history of the park and gather and record flora and fauna observations, visitor, tourism, marketing data and park attributes for park records
• provide general customer service and maintenance support to maintain and improve program quality

What you bring to the team

Mandatory requirements:

• You must have a valid class 'G' or 'G2' driver's license or equivalent, as recognized by the Province of Ontario. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that s/he has a valid driver's license upon being hired.
• You must be able to work shifts, weekends, and statutory holidays as per schedule and travel to the Provincial Park that you select if you are the successful candidate.

Knowledge:

• You possess knowledge of resource management principles and techniques.
• You are knowledgeable of interpretive programming preparation and presentation techniques.
• You have working knowledge of outdoor recreation skills andOntario's flora and fauna.
• You are knowledgeable of and have an ability to use computer programs such as word-processing, record keeping, digital image scanning, internet and email software applications.

Communication and interpersonal skills:

• You possess demonstrated communication skills to conduct presentations, park tours and abilities to facilitate interpretive programs for visitors and clients.
• You have well developed written communication skills to assist in creating stories and marketing boards.
• You have interpersonal and customer service skills to assist internal and external stakeholders.

General skills:

• You are a demonstrated leader and can supervise and assist staff.
• You have the ability to work independently and carry out instructions.
• You possess skills to prioritize tasks to meet competing deadlines and organize park events.
• You have the ability to operate and maintain audio visual equipment.
