Nurse Practitioner (NP) will provide primary care, consultative services and care planning for patients with a mental health and/or addiction diagnosis to clients in our residential addictions and outpatient programs.
Travelling required-possession of a valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's license and personal reliable vehicle

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
• Master of Nursing-Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner (MN-PHCNP) or Post-Master's Certificate (PHCNP).
• Current controlled substance education.
• ACLS/BCLS or willing to obtain.
REGISTRATION
• Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse in the Extended Class (EC)
• The NP is a Registered Nurse in the Extended Class with the College of Nurses of Ontario, who provides comprehensive advanced practice nursing services including health promotion, disease and injury prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and support for adult patients under the care of the Mental Health and Addictions Program.
• The Nurse Practitioner has advanced knowledge and decision-making skills in providing a comprehensive health focused approach in meeting the primary health care needs of the community we serve.
• The NP provides patient care in accordance with legislative acts and frameworks guiding NP practice, hospital guidelines, policies and medical directives, College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO), the Regulated Health Professionals Act, 1991 (RHPA), the Public Hospitals Act, 1990 (PHA), the Nursing Act, 1991, established medical directives, and professional practice standards. Within the scope of these acts and frameworks, the NP will demonstrate competency to autonomously diagnose, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe pharmaceuticals and perform procedures as appropriate.
• Monitor and maintain the fidelity of program by participating in ongoing clinical and team discussions (case conferences, team meetings, departmental meetings) to ensure the planning, implementation and evaluation of services aligns with service requirements while meeting clinical needs and expectations.
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues within and across disciplines by engaging in consistent and ad hoc clinical discussions to ensure appropriate feedback and updates are provided to them regarding the involvement of clients.
• Participate in hospital and community liaison activities and/or committees as delegated and required to ensure effective delivery of service
• Receive regularly scheduled clinical and administrative supervision by the Director of Mental Health Services or delegate
• Keep abreast of new developments within the field of Mental Health, including addictions. Maintain and upgrade skills as required
• Carry out a teaching role within Mental Health Services through participation, and presentation at the regularly scheduled staff education seminars and other educational forums existing within the hospital. This role may also extend to the community.
• Maintain timely and accurate statistical records of activities for Departmental, Hospital, and Ministry purposes.
• Consult with Director of Mental Health Services or assigned delegate, when administrative, therapeutic, or legal matters could result in significant or serious outcome to client, hospital, and/or therapist.
• Carry out other duties as required by the Director of Mental Health Services.
• Collect, record and update client/program statistics
• Maintain records according to organization standards
• Maintain positive interpersonal working relationships and adheres to corporate core behaviors
• Actively participate in supervision, professional development and self-assessment aimed at developing/enhancing own professional skills
