OR Aides provide support and assistance in the transfer of patients and assembling of equipment required for surgical procedures.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Assist with patient transfer and positioning.
2. Leads case turnover including end of case cleaning.
3. Transports or disposes of soiled equipment as per protocol.
4. Transports specimens to the lab.
5. Ordering and tracking of supplies and equipment.
Qualifications:
• Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent is required
• Knowledge of OR instruments, positioning devices and their handling and processing preferred
• Knowledge of sterile techniques and OR theatre cleaning preferred
• Medical Device Reprocessing Technician, Operating Room Attendant or Personal Support Worker program completion/experience an asset
• Operating Room Aide experience within the last two years preferred.
• Good public relation and communication skills.
• Must be physically able to perform the normal duties of the job.
• Satisfactory vulnerable person's sector criminal background check.
• Internal candidates must have satisfactory attendance and performance appraisal in current position.
• Documented commitment to continuing education through inservice, staff meetings and self-motivated learning.
• Reliable and punctual
• Excellent verbal and written communication and customer relation skills.
