The Registration/Switchboard clerk will perform all duties associated with the registration of patients requiring services in inpatient and outpatient areas. Schedule tests and procedures using information and data that is provided from various offices/departments requesting appointments to be booked at Woodstock Hospital. Operate the Hospital switchboard and Facilities FIT Pro system.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Responsible for the accurate and concise collection of information during the registration process. Including, patient demographics, insurance, next of kin, providers of care and hospital location for the inpatient, outpatient and emergency visits.
2. Process patient transfers and bed assignment as directed.
3. File reports and test results into appropriate file or attach to patient charts as needed
4. Correctly and accurately schedule and book surgical procedures, out-patient clinics, ambulatory care and diagnostic imaging appointments in keeping with processes and established criteria for the respective departmental scheduling requirements.
5. Process requests for appointment changes, rescheduling and cancellations at the request of the resource
6. Contact patients regarding appointments, physicians' offices and/or inter hospital departments regarding changes in appointments.
7. Act as cashier after hours; maintain control of cash float, including control of money for parking cards and receipts for parking gates, taking payments.
8. Back up Security for hospital codes.
9. Perform other related tasks assigned by the Registration/S/B Supervisor and Director of Health Information.
Qualifications:
• Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent is required
• Medical Terminology Required
• Previous hospital experience an asset
• Previous registration/switchboard experience an asset
• Previous recent office experience
• Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task
• Strong attention to detail
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills with physicians, patients and visitors with high regard to public relations
• Computer skills are mandatory
• Ability to work unsupervised
• Satisfactory vulnerable person's sector criminal background check.
