Job Summary

How you will make an impact:
You will be responsible for maintaining a complete and systematic set of records of business transactions for the assigned business unit.

As a Bookkeeper, you will:

  • Interact with customers and resolve customer complaints, relaying relevant comments from customers to supervisors
  • Represent the company in a courteous, efficient and friendly manner in all customer and employee interactions to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Assist Controller with reports and weekly closing procedures
  • Verify, allocate and post details of business transactions to subsidiary accounts in journals or computer files from documents, such as sales slips, invoices, receipts, unit reports, check stubs and computer printouts
  • Summarize details in separate ledgers or computer files and transfer data to general ledger, using calculator or computer. Reconciles and balances accounts
  • Compile records to show statistics, such as cash receipts and expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, profit and loss, and other items pertinent to the operation of the business
  • Calculate employee wages from time cards and submits information to payroll for processing
  • Compute, type and mail monthly statements to customers

About you:

  • Minimum two years' experience in accounting and bookkeeping
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in accounting
  • Strong computer and typing skills and proficiency in Word and Excel
  • Must have excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Fast learner with the ability to take direction and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
  • Be highly organized with keen attention to detail
  • Able to work effectively with minimum supervision and maintain confidentiality with all sensitive information
