Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band 2, $22.201 to $26.109 (5 step range)

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

The Early Detection Clerk is responsible for providing administrative support and clerical duties for the screening programs of the Early Detection Department in the Population Health Division. This position ensures the collection, documentation and distribution of information is completed with accuracy and confidentiality. This position reports to a screening program manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Grade 12
  • Office Education/Secretarial Certificate plus completion of a Medical Terminology course (OR) Medical Office Assistant Certificate

Skills:

  • Ability to competently use computers and Microsoft applications.
  • Ability to type proficiently.
  • Must be familiar with database data entry.
  • Ability to operate all types of office equipment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate factual information both orally and in writing.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Human relations skills required to empathize with complaints and/or concerns and establish rapport with patients, the public and other staff.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload.
  • Some Judgment and problem solving skills are required to select the most appropriate action from a limited number of alternatives.
  • Knowledge of culturally responsive care for First Nations and Métis people.
