Job Description

The Regina Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology requires locum services for 6 to 9 months.

The successful candidate will cover on-call duties, operating room time and clinic duties that include the Labour and Birth Unit as well as Emergency Department coverage. Specialists maintain a fee-for-service, independent practice within Regina. Call coverage is shared with a very patient-centred and cooperative call group within the specialty, and an on-call premium is provided for on-call availability.

Obstetrical & Gynecological services are based at the Regina General Hospital, with 36 obstetrical beds and 11 gynecological beds dedicated to the service. There are about 4,000 deliveries each year and a corresponding volume of gynecology. Specialists are supported by a complete range of neonatal, pediatric medical and surgical sub-specialists. In these superb facilities, the region will continue to provide the complete continuum of care and enhance care for pregnant women and newborns.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is dedicated to learning and is a partner in the growing educational needs of medical students and residents from the College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. As this is an academic site affiliated with the University of Saskatchewan, the position also involves teaching medical students and residents.

Job Qualifications

Successful candidates will hold certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) in Obstetrics and Gynecology and be eligible for regular licensure from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) to practice in Saskatchewan.

This individual should be a team player, be able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff and management, and function well in a high-volume environment with a commitment to the provision of high-quality patient and family-centered care.

In accordance with immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.
