Job Description
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) - Saskatoon and the University of Saskatchewan is seeking an individual to join the Department of Pediatrics in Saskatchewan, under the Division of Developmental Pediatrics, as a clinician with a broad range of abilities in assessing children with neurodiversity. This position would focus on the timely assessment and diagnosis of autistic pediatric patients.
The successful candidate will be required to work collaboratively within the Department of Pediatrics, the Division of Developmental Pediatrics, and align clinical care work with the SHA Provincial Autism Strategy. Working collaboratively with synchronous and asynchronous medical and developmental allied health teams is a must. Excellence in clinical care is required. The successful clinician(s) roles will include clinical care assessments/autism diagnostics embedded within in the Provincial Autism Strategy pathways depending on level of presenting neurodevelopmental complexity.
The initial focus will be on autism diagnostics in the preschool population that focuses on single diagnostician pathway (for children where autism core symptoms are most prominent). Collaboration with Shared-Care and Team-Based Multi-Disciplinary assessments will be planned depending on clinician comfort, geographical location, and background. The clinician(s) role will also be to guide care teams in championing a patient and family centered strengths based care approach.
Deliverables will depend on candidate qualifications, past experience with neurodiversity assessment/diagnostics, and patient complexity (single diagnostician type appointment vs shared care vs multi-disciplinary, etc).
Location of Practice: Within Saskatchewan. Specific location(s) to be determined based on applicant(s) preferred geographical area(s) of work.
Other:
- Experience and comfort with developmental pediatrics, social pediatrics, and/or the CanREACH-SK pediatric mental health fellowship are assets but not required.
- Additional autism specific training including Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2), Autism Diagnostic Interview Revised (ADI-R), Rapid Interactive Screening Test for Autism in Toddlers (RITA-T) are assets but not essential.
- Ability to develop clinical pathways, standards of care, and participate in quality improvement activities is welcomed.
Job Qualifications
Successful candidates will hold certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in General Pediatrics, Developmental Pediatrics, or similar areas, or certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada. The candidate must also be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS).
