This posting will be used to fill One (1) 15-Month TERM position with possibility of extension. This position is fulltime working 75 bi-weekly.

The term dates are March 17, 2025 to June 26, 2026.

It will establish a 12-month eligibility list which may be used to fill future permanent, term, vacancies. Temporary Assignment will be considered with supervisor approval.

This job is based in the thriving and diverse city of Whitehorse in the beautiful Yukon.

The Opportunity

The Role

Reporting to the Manager, Quality and Risk Management, this position is part of the Continuing Care Quality and Safety Team. This position plans, coordinates, delivers, and evaluates the Continuing Care Infection Control Program to minimize the risk of infection to residents, clients, visitors, volunteers, and staff.

Essential Qualifications:
Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet each of the following qualifications. Please note, selection for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

  • Current registration with a Canadian registered nursing regulatory authority;
  • Experience working in infection control in a health care setting; (Long term care, acute care and Home care)
  • Recently applied knowledge of infection control theory and practices;
  • Education specific to infection control

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Suitability
Candidates should have and may be assessed on their:

  • Ability to provide leadership skills, coaching and training to members of a team
  • Education or coursework specific to infection control
  • Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge on preparing reports and providing recommendations to a team
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to endorse, plan, organize and deliver influenza immunization as well as other immunizations to residents and staff of Continuing Care
  • Ability to plan, organize, and deliver training programs and workshops related to infection control
  • Ability to research and apply infection control principles that are appropriate to a construction setting
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Able to work collaboratively in challenging, stressful or difficult situations with residents and staff members

Conditions of Employment:

Registration with Yukon Registered Nurses Association (YRNA) WHMIS 2015, TB Screening, CPR level C with AED, Vulnerable Sector RCMP security clearance, Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certificate, and valid Driver's License are all required prior to hire.

Job Requirements:

Potential exposure to infectious agents, exposure to animals, exposure to second hand smoke from Residents/ Clients. Travel between Whitehorse facilities daily if needed, travel Dawson
