Who we are
Community Nursing Branch is responsible for the delivery of primary and public health care through health centres situated across the Yukon. Community Nursing Branch operates 14 health centres across the territory, including 11 Community Health Centres in rural Yukon that deliver primary health care with registered nurses in an expanded scope, and 3 Community Health Centres that focus on community and public health programming.
Your role
The Nursing Practice Consultant (NPC) - Primary Care role includes the training, on-going education and development of staff to ensure they meet or exceed the professional standards required to function in primary health care and in an expanded role capacity.
This position is based in Whitehorse and is part of a skilled and dynamic team responsible for coordinating and delivering clinical training to all branch staff, and mentoring nurses, including NIC's. This position coordinates and delivers professional development courses and provides training and education designed to maintain and keep current the knowledge and skills of those working in an expanded nursing scope of practice. Additionally, the consultants identify the resources required to meet program objectives and ensure financial accountability; provide recommendations to Community Nursing management; conduct program audits and develop and deliver educational support for practice issues.
